Student Showcase: ‘I Can and I Will’ Illustrated by Raheem Perry

Today, we would like to highlight the work of Raheem Perry. Perry is a senior here at Duquesne University, enrolled in the Digital Media Arts program. He is a Pittsburgh native that has used his upbringing as a source of inspiration for his illustration and videos.

Perry has recently illustrated a book. The novel revolves around a young boy’s relationship with his father, who teaches him the importance of self-belief, which leads the boy to acquire the mantra of “I can and I will.” With the boy’s embrace of his father’s quote, he is now able to face and overcome life’s obstacles dogmatically.

Mr. Perry’s illustration in “I Can and I Will” allow for the reader to feel the development of confined and self-reassurance. Each illustration enables the author’s words to come to life and demonstrate the character’s happiness as well as a strong emotional bond.
