During an outing to Soergel Orchards with a couple of friends, I took several photographs to practice my photography skills and to become familiar with the Media departments new XC-15 camera.
I wanted to capture images of aspects of the orchard that no one would normally take and to document its many attractions. Some of these attractions are miniature farm animals, a waterfall, flowers and close-ups of butterflies feeding. When taking photographs I noticed that I was rusty.
After taking a few practice shots I was able to compose some great photographs. However, the XC-15 is not a camera intended for photography its meant for news and filming. When shooting with this camera its important to know that the photographs are saved as jpg and not raw files. This is bad since editing jpg files cause visual distortions in the images.
Overall, the camera did a great job capturing all the images I wanted it too. Some shots came out flat, meaning that the color vibrancy was not good. The photographs that I took came out pretty good, don’t take my word, view the images yourself.
